Natural Baby and Childcare: Practical Medical Advice and Holistic Wisdom for Raising Healthy Children

The bible for natural baby and child care.

For parents who live natural, environmentally responsible lives, child rearing can seem impossible. From feeding to healing, clothing to washing, raising children naturally can be a daunting task—unless you know how.
BR>Natural Baby and Childcare helps parents who want to raise a “green” baby. This comprehensive book discusses how to complement conventional medicine with alternative treatments such as homeopathy, essential oils, and herbal medicine; how to bathe your child without using damaging chemicals; and how to feed your baby healthy, organic food. As a physician and a mom, Dr. Lauren Feder skillfully bridges the divide between medicine and motherhood, empowering parents to personalize traditional child-rearing practices to their own child.

Natural Baby and Childcare answers common questions such as:
• Are there any side effects of homeopathic medicine?
• What alternatives are there to wasteful baby products, such as plastic diapers?
• Is breastfeeding good for my baby?
• Can chamomile really cure colic?
• What side effects can vaccinations have?

Dr. Feder encourages parents to examine the conventional products that are offered and be choosy about which to include in their own children’s lives. With information for all stages and ages, Natural Baby and Childcare is a comprehensive, intelligent, and reassuring guide to raising healthy and happy children. 50 photos.

Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering: A Doctor’s Guide to Natural Childbirth and Gentle Early Parenting Choices

An authoritative guide to natural childbirth and postpartum parenting options from an MD who home-birthed her own four children.

Sarah Buckley might be called a third-wave natural birth advocate. A doctor and a mother, she approaches the question of how a woman and baby might have the most fulfilling birth experience with respect for the wisdom of both medical science and the human body. Using current medical and epidemiological research plus women’s experiences (including her own), she demonstrates that what she calls “undisturbed birth” is almost always healthier and safer than high-technology approaches to birth. Her wise counsel on issues like breastfeeding and sleeping during postpartum helps extend the gentle birth experience into a gentle parenting relationship.

Snappi Cloth Diaper Fasteners – Pack of 3 (Mint color mix)

Pack of 3 (purple, white, mint green)

The Snappi® is a safer, more reliable, EASY to use fastener for cloth diapers that replaces the nasty diaper pins. The stretchable non-toxic Snappi® hooks into the diaper material to make a strong closure. They work best with diapers that have a loose enough weave for the Snappi® to hook into. (Snappi® terry cloth diapers, cotton pre-folds, and others) Note they do not work well with flannel or other tightly woven diapers.

How to use your Snappi®:

To improve elasticity, stretch your Snappi® fastener a few times before use.

Step 1: Hook left

Step 2: Stretch across and hook right

Step 3: Stretch down and hook center

The Snappi® should go from a “T” shape to a “Y” shape when stretched properly.

Warning: Always use a cover over a Snappi fastener. Keep out of children’s reach when not in use. Do not use a Snappi fastener on toddlers that have the ability to undo or take off their cover/diaper/clothes. Do not use your Snappi for longer than 6 months. Not UV resistant – exposure to the sun can reduce the effectiveness of the Snappi.

CAUTION: Any tear in the Snappi can lead to separation of a piece, presenting a possible choking hazard. Inspect the Snappi before each use and discontinue using immediately if there is any sign of cracking, tearing, breakage or wear of the teeth or any other parts. Do not cut a Snappi as this may cause tearing.

Bamboobies 2 Pair Ultra-Thin Regular Nursing Pads, Pale Pink

Bamboobies Washable Nursing Pads. Regular Bamboobies are ultra-thin with a milk-proof backing so they are perfect for going back to work or going out for a night on the town when you don’t want your nursing pads to show. They are ideal for light leaking or once your supply has been regulated. Regular Bamboobies are lined with velour to soothe tender nursing nipples and have a waterproof outer layer to protect your clothes. They’re heart-shaped to cup your breast better than a circular pad – no creases means no lines. Because they are thinner, heart-shaped and have a milk-proof backing, Bamboobies will not show, or more importantly, leak through your shirt like cotton pads do. Mommy bloggers have called Bamboobies the Maserati of nursing pads and cashmere sweaters for boobies the ultimate in luxury and softness.
